Waddlo is a cosy puzzle set on a hexagonal pond. A few ducks are paddling about, each looking in a particular direction. Your goal is simple: get every duck off the pond.
The one rule
Tap a duck and it waddles straight ahead, in the direction it is looking. Two things can happen:
- The way is clear: the duck leaves the pond. One down!
- Another duck is in the way: the duck bumps into it and stays where it is. That counts as an error.
That is the whole game. The challenge is not the tapping, it is deciding in which order to tap.
Reading the pond
Look at each duck and follow its line of sight with your eyes, cell by cell, to the edge of the pond. If that line is empty, the duck is free right now. If another duck sits on the line, that duck has to leave first.
New ideas as you go
The 120 levels introduce a new idea every five levels: ice ducks, magic portals, rotating ducks, and ducks tied together in pairs. Each new level starts gently so you can see how the new duck behaves before it gets tricky.
If you get stuck
- Undo takes back your last move.
- Restart resets the level.
- Each level offers 3 hints.
- The game also checks the pond for dead ends, so you are told if a position can no longer be won.
Reading directions on a hexagonal pond
On a hexagonal grid, each cell has six neighbours instead of four, so a duck can look in six directions. Each duck shows its direction clearly, and it always waddles in a perfectly straight line until it reaches the edge. To check whether a duck is free, follow that line cell by cell with your finger or your eyes. If every cell on the line is empty, the duck can leave.
Your first level, step by step
- Look at every duck and trace its line to the edge.
- Find a duck whose line is completely empty. That one is free.
- Tap it. It waddles off the pond.
- Look again: ducks that were blocked by it are now free.
- Repeat until the pond is empty.
Errors, undo and hints
If you tap a duck that is blocked, it bumps into the duck in its way and you lose a little: that counts as an error. You can undo your last move or restart the level at any time, and every level offers three hints. The game also checks the pond for dead ends: if a position can no longer be won, it lets you know instead of leaving you stuck.
